Would you turn down $2 billion for our kids?

Dear h0ly,

If you were governor and the Obama administration offered you $2 billion to help pay for our childrens' education, would you turn it down?

Chris Christie would.

That wouldn't just lead to a direct $2 billion increase in property taxes, it would also undercut the real progress we've made in educating our kids.

Governor Corzine has made tough decisions to cut spending, but he has never faltered in his commitment to provide all children -- regardless of where they live -- with a high-quality education.

Click here to listen to educators across New Jersey talk about Jon Corzine's commitment to education.

That's why, even as he cut spending throughout the budget during his 4 years, Jon Corzine increased total funding for our schools by over $1.8 billion -- because he knows that the foundation of New Jersey's economy has always been that we produce the kind of educated workforce that businesses want. It wasn't always popular, but it was the right thing to do to ensure our state and our kids can compete in a 21st century economy.

The results of that investment are undeniable: our high school graduation rates are the highest in the country, we're a national leader in preschool enrollment, our students score near the top in reading and math, and we've made real progress toward closing the urban-suburban achievement gap.

If you agree with Jon Corzine and I that there is no more important investment in our future than educating our children, then we need your help to ensure we can continue the progress we've made:

Mayor Cory Booker for Corzine 09

Dear Friends,

It's that time of year again -- the summer is over and we're sending our children back to school for another school year.

As I meet with teachers, administrators and students in Newark, I've been reflecting on the changes that I've witnessed in our schools over the last four years and Jon Corzine's leadership when it comes to education in New Jersey.

Click here to learn more about the work Jon Corzine and I are doing on education, and why I think you should get involved with his campaign today.

Governor Corzine has increased funding for our schools by over $1 billion over the last four years, and here in Newark we're making the most of it -- we have three Blue Ribbon Schools of Excellence and seen 4 new schools built to serve the children and families of our great City.

While we've made some important strides, there is much work to be done to ensure that every New Jersey child receives an excellent education. Jon Corzine is our partner in this critical mission.

Please, right now, take three minutes out of your day to watch this video message and then sign up to get involved with Corzine '09.

Your help and support could make a real and lasting impact in the New Jersey Governor's race, so please get involved today.

Thank you,

Mayor Cory Booker
